How to Play Chinese Bingo

At the start of each Chinese Bingo game, players are given at least one Chinese Bingo card with Mandarin or Pinyin characters printed on them.

The Chinese Bingo cards have a 5 x 5 grid corresponding to the five letters in the word B-I-N-G-O. Thus, a Chinese Bingo Card contains 24 Mandarin or Pinyin characters and one free space (or blank).

The characters on a Chinese Bingo card are usually from 100 commonly used Chinese words compared to numbers 1 to 75 in American Bingo or 1 - 90 in British and Australian Bingo.

Characters such as bao (bao) are then randomly drawn from a pile of Caller Cards until a player completes a "Bingo" or marks the pre-determined pattern on his card. The first player or players to complete the Bingo pattern and shout "Bingo" wins a prize.

The caller, or a designated checker, should confirm that the Bingo patterns has been correctly marked on the player's card. If the card checks out fine, the prize is awarded.

The Bingo pattern can be a row, a column, a diagonal row, a box or the whole card. Simple Chinese characters can also serve as the "Bingo" pattern.
